Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 1 January 2026  |  Last reviewed: June 2026

These terms set out the basis on which Mainspring provides watch care and repair services. Please read them at your own pace. By leaving a timepiece in our care you confirm that you have read and understood these terms.

1. About Mainspring

Mainspring is a watch care and repair workshop located at 16 Ratchadamnoen Road, Phra Sing, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand. We offer scheduled collection maintenance, vintage restoration and cosmetic refinishing services. We do not sell watches or parts directly to the public.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By bringing, posting or arranging delivery of a timepiece to our workshop, by requesting a quotation, or by using this website, you agree to these terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not submit a timepiece for service.

These terms apply to all clients, whether visiting the workshop in person or arranging service remotely.

3. Services Provided

Mainspring currently offers three service categories:

  • Collection Care Plan — Scheduled rotation, winding and light maintenance spread across the year for small personal collections.
  • Vintage Restoration — Gentle, reversible work on older timepieces, including dial care and sympathetic case refinishing.
  • Case Polishing & Refinishing — Careful removal of light surface scratches with finishes matched to the original case.

A full written quotation is provided before any service work begins. No work is carried out without your explicit approval of the quoted scope and cost.

4. Quotations and Pricing

Quotations are provided in Thai Baht (฿) and are valid for 30 days from the date issued. Prices listed on our website and promotional materials are starting-point guides only; the final price for your specific timepiece may differ depending on condition, age, and the scope of work required.

Any additional work discovered during service will be communicated to you before it is carried out. You are under no obligation to approve additional scope beyond the original quotation.

5. Intake, Assessment and Approval

When you leave a timepiece with us, we will issue a written intake receipt describing the piece and its visible condition at the time of drop-off. Please review this document carefully. It forms the basis of our shared understanding of the piece's condition prior to service.

An assessment report will be shared with you before work begins. Work commences only after you provide written approval (including by email or messaging) of the quoted scope.

6. Timescales

Estimated completion timescales are given in good faith at the time of intake. Factors outside our control — including specialist part availability, discovery of hidden damage, or unusual movement complexity — may require timescales to be revised. We will notify you as soon as possible if the expected completion date changes.

We do not accept responsibility for losses arising from delays outside our reasonable control.

7. Collection and Uncollected Pieces

Once work is complete and payment has been received, timepieces should be collected within 60 days. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you prior to this period expiring.

Timepieces not collected after 90 days, following two written notifications, may at our discretion be held under a storage charge of ฿200 per week until collected. After 12 months of non-collection, we reserve the right to manage the piece in accordance with applicable Thai law.

8. Payment

Payment is due in full upon completion and before collection of the timepiece. We accept cash in Thai Baht, bank transfer, and major debit and credit cards. Payment plans may be discussed for larger service orders at our discretion.

Mainspring retains a lien over any timepiece in its possession until all outstanding charges relating to that piece have been settled.

9. Cancellation

You may cancel a service request at any time before work has begun without charge. If work has already commenced, a partial charge reflecting the labour and materials already applied may be applicable. We will discuss this with you openly before any charge is confirmed.

10. Our Liability

We take the greatest care with every timepiece entrusted to us. Our liability in the event of damage caused by our negligence is limited to the fair market value of the timepiece at the time it was received, as determined by a mutually agreed independent assessment if necessary.

We do not accept liability for:

  • Pre-existing faults not identified at intake.
  • Damage resulting from hidden defects in a piece's components that were not visible or detectable at the time of assessment.
  • Loss of sentimental or speculative value.
  • Delays in service completion caused by factors outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for personal injury or death caused by negligence, or for any liability that cannot be excluded under Thai law.

11. Ownership

By submitting a timepiece for service, you confirm that you are the owner or have the owner's authority to authorise service work. Mainspring accepts no responsibility for disputes arising from pieces submitted without the owner's consent.

12. Website Use

This website is provided for information purposes. While we try to keep information accurate and current, we make no warranties about its completeness or suitability for any particular purpose. The website and its content are provided on an "as is" basis.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Chiang Mai Province.
