I brought in three watches for the collection plan — two automatic divers and a dress watch my father left me. Kasem looked at each one properly and gave me written notes on each. No surprises on the invoice and the watches came back in noticeably better condition. I've renewed for a second year.

Marco Vinci

Italian, based in Bangkok

Travelled to Chiang Mai specifically for this. I had a 1968 Longines with a dial that needed careful cleaning and a mainspring that had been sitting too long. The turnaround was longer than I expected — nearly three weeks — but the work was done properly and the condition report was thorough. Worth the wait.

My Omega Seamaster had scratches across the case from years of daily wear. I was worried about over-polishing destroying the brushed finish on the flanks. Nattaya walked me through exactly how they'd approach it before touching the watch. The result is exactly right — the brushed zones stayed brushed, the polished crown area is bright. Very impressed.

I appreciate that this is a proper workshop, not a watch repair counter at a shopping mall. You can see the bench from the door, the tools are laid out properly and the person who takes your watch in is the person who works on it. I've brought three pieces over eighteen months and had the same experience each time.

My grandmother's Seiko needed looking at — it hadn't run properly in years. I wasn't sure it was worth the effort but Kasem examined it and explained that the movement was in reasonable shape, just dry. The restoration took about two weeks. It runs now. I couldn't be more pleased about that.

Richard Blackwell

British, visiting Chiang Mai

Dropped in on spec while visiting the old city — I'd read about Mainspring online. Brought a scratched stainless sports watch for a refinishing estimate. Ananya gave me a clear written quote while I waited and explained exactly what the work would involve. Collected it ten days later. Excellent result, fair price.

Work in detail

The situation

An inherited Tissot, unworn for twelve years

The owner, a Chiang Mai teacher, had inherited a 1970s Tissot from her grandfather. The watch hadn't run since before his death. She wasn't sure it was worth the cost of attention but wanted to know what condition it was in.

The approach

Assessment first, then careful movement work

Kasem examined the movement and found the mainspring intact, the jewels clean, and the lubricants simply hardened with age. The dial had minor dust but no damage. He proposed a light service — cleaning, re-oiling and regulation — without case work.

The result

Running within specification, 2.5 weeks later

The Tissot returned to accurate service, running to within 8 seconds per day. The owner received condition photographs and a written summary. She subsequently enrolled it on the collection plan alongside one other piece.

"I wasn't expecting much and I got it back running properly. That was enough."

The situation

A modern sports watch, heavily worn case

A German expat living in Chiang Mai brought in a five-year-old Swiss sports watch. The case had sustained significant scratching across the brushed flanks and the polished bezel. His main concern: previous owners of similar watches had returned them from service with the entire case polished smooth.

The approach

Zone-by-zone hand finishing

Nattaya handled the refinishing work, working each surface zone separately. The brushed flanks were re-brushed by hand in the original direction. The polished bezel was polished independently. The case shape and edge geometry were preserved throughout.

The result

Original finish specification restored

The watch looked as it was designed to look — not over-polished, not tampered with. The scratches were gone and the finish zones were as distinct as the original. The client confirmed the case shape was identical to when he bought it.

"Finally someone who didn't just buff everything to a mirror shine and call it done."
